Cheap Air Travel – Is it Really Worth the Hassle?Chances are that anyone and everyone who has decided to head off for the summer months on an airplane ride to their vacation destination has heard about cheap air travel. It seems to be the new buzzword, as with the skyrocketing price of gas and current air fares, cheap air travel appears to be a gift from the gods themselves. Unfortunately though, many people who book their flights under the premise that they are receiving some kind of cheap air travel discount are actually quite mistaken, as unforeseen prices and layover problems can be far more costly than a few hundred dollar deduction from your air fare. For example, by purchasing cheap air travel tickets you could put yourself at risk of missing out on key days of your vacation due to late arriving flights and long layovers which could force you to stay several nights in a hotel near an airport thousands of miles from where your ultimate destination lies. Not everything associated with cheap air travel is bad, however, as most domestic flights that offer cheap rates are surprisingly good. Take, for example, Southwest Airlines and Jet Blue. Both carriers offer amazingly low prices to nearly every place in America but still have a variety of benefits over other carriers. Southwest has finally begun to abandon its “bus” style profile which had been plaguing it for some years by giving passengers tickets for actual seats on board a plane instead of having a first come first serve style arrangement. Jet Blue has also been making strides in the world of cheap air travel by substituting snacks and meals for things like satellite television service and plush seats. With so many advantages to the cheap air travel airlines, it makes perfect sense to take them to wherever you are planning on traveling – just as long as you are willing to fully accept lengthy layovers and late flights.
